The National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) of India-
I) a statutory body under the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change.

II) Establishment: The NTCA was established in 2005 under the Wildlife Protection Act of 1972, as an outcome of recommendations by the Tiger Task Force to strengthen conservation efforts.

III) Key Functions:

i.)Policy Formulation: Develop policies and guidelines for tiger conservation and management.

ii) Assessment & Protection: Assess threats to tiger habitats and implement measures to mitigate them.

iii) Fund Allocation: Provide financial assistance to states for managing tiger reserves and related activities.

iv) Advisory Role: Advise the government on the protection of endangered species and their habitats.

The National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) is a statutory body under the Ministry of Environment, Forests, and Climate Change. It was set up in December 2005 following the recommendations of the Tiger Task Force.
The objectives of NTCA are: Providing statutory authority to Project Tiger so that compliance of its directives become legal. Fostering accountability of Center-State in management of Tiger Reserves, by providing a basis for MoU with States within our federal structure. Providing for an oversight by Parliament.
