Who has the best lemon tart recipe?

Whether you call it lemon tart or tarte au citron, many chefs regard making a great lemon tart as a rite of pastry passage. Both Heston Blumenthal and Marco Pierre White have listed their methods in their cookbooks and I wanted to know which was better. So I've put them head to test in a recipe showdown cookoff thing.

Great video, Gary! I really enjoy these videos where you try to recreate a chef's recipe. It definitely seemed like the Heston tart was a better recipe. If you ever make the Marco one again, they do sell pie crust shields, which are a metal or silicone ring that covers the edges of the crust to prevent burning. It has saved me many a burnt crust. And thank you so much for the shout out! I let out an audible "awww" when I heard that! If you ever want to do a collab video, let me know!

I have hestons recipe in my phone from a video that I can’t find anywhere. Thank god you have posted that page of the book because the recipe I have down is not so specific. Definitely going to give both of these a try!

He was really great. The best advice I can say is pick a really really good chef to put your career in his or her hands. He was fair, kind and would always help you out in the Kichen if you were behind.

Oh Gary! Iv worked for Marco, I think you need some basics lessons on pastry! Do you want me to pop to your home and give you some lessons. As I am a retired pastry chef? a few things pastry should never be any thinker than a £1 coin and the crispy filling, you do need icing sugar and you need a blowtorch not a grill. Hence the pastry will indeed burn. The best of luck with your channel
