I love how you set up this talk. The coffee the, roses in a vase and a release on my birthday:) What's not to love

Thank you so much for your input! I will get Gertrude Jekill because it seems so frangrant and vigorous that it's worth the care.

I'm really glad y'all are doing a series focusing on each rose! I probably should have commented on the Strawberry Hill obeslisk video, but you've inspired me to pick up Strawberry Hill when they come back in stock, just based off the in-depth talk about her scent and growing style! I'm really glad y'all are doing a series focusing on each rose! This is probably one of my favorite videos you have done yet-- the set up and the timing with the light was perfection. You both look comfortable and so pleased, I love it.

I can't wait to see which you do next-- I have Carding Mill, Bathsheba, The Generous Gardener, Munstead Wood, and Teasing Georgia, all of those being brand new to me this year, and also Imogen (if she survives... she's had a rough year) I look forward to seeing a rundown of the ones you have to tide me over 'til it's their time to bloom in 5b! In particular I'm curious about the shade tolerant roses. I've read on the DA website for each rose, and have seen which love shade (which is why I bought Generous Gardener) but then I've seen from some other youtubers that DAs in general need a lot of sun, which gave me pause. Thanks so much for taking time to do these videos and show us all your gorgeous blooms.

I’m getting my first three roses this year and Gertrude Jekyll climbing rose is one of them. Your videos have been very helpful in making me decide which rose to get. I got Gertrude, Olivia Rose and Eustacia Vye 😍 can’t wait to see them bloom next year. You have a beautiful garden and great videos as well! Thank you 😊

You can plant clematis behind Gertrude Jekyll, so when flowers or leaves faded, clematis can take over the empty spot, a great combination.

Wow...you got three flushes from Gertrude Jekyll?? Mine only gave me one good one and a few sparse blooms in its second season, and it was in full sun. The Japanese beetles were a problem for this rose too. I'm in NC zone 7b so not too far from you guys 🙂 Is yours own root, or grafted?

Beautiful roses. I recently preordered Gertrude Jekyll as a bare root rose. Would you guys happen to know if this rose needs to be planted as deep as a grafted bare root rose? I’m going to plant it in a planter.

I’m really inspired to go ahead and grow this rose! Do you recommend purchasing barefoot or 2 quart pots?

I passed one of these GJ roses today at the Garden Center of my local grocery store. I'm going back for it tomorrow! I didn't realize it did so well with partial shade.

Love the series... will you be talking about how you take care of the roses like what products you use to treat black spot, how and when to fertilize?

I have an 8 year old Gertrude Jekyll. It blooms 2 times a year. It has never grown hardly at all. But is on full sun the entire day. In going to move it to shade. Thanks for vital tip on shade.

May 1, 2017 — Although most people who have seen the movies pronounce it 'Jekkle', the correct Scottish pronunciation is 'Jeekul', rhyming with treacle.
