This is a short video where i am showing the CW performance of the Kenwoos TS-480 SAt i just bought when i was coming back from Friedricshafen 2016. I just use the DSP, there are no CW filter inside it, but i will surely put the mechanical filter inside, the radio seems really worth it. The radio was on 20 meters and station should be VO1MP if i remember well. I was impressed by this rig that in Italy is very underrated. I discover the nice DSP, evolution of the TS-2000 DSP, quite close in power and functionality to the one on the TS-590. I closed the DSP bandwidth and i use it the NR2 to remove noise between the CW note. This rig is well constructed, everything is in the box for mobile or fixed use and is incredibly working great in SSB e CW. Maybe next videos will be with the mechanical filters inside.

I agree with KU3X ... without the mechanical filter, an adjacent signal will swamp the receiver and AGC making it virtually impossible to copy a station on the selected frequency.

You need to do that in a crowded band condition. If there's no signal next to the one you are hearing, what you did means nothing. It does take out some of the background, but let's see how it does with a signal close by.
I own two each TS 480 AT's and really like them. One is for mobile. I have two each CW filters installed.
