I know this video is kinds a joke, but that first idea of random encounters during fast travel was done pretty well in Dragon Age Origins. Worth a play if your feeling up to it.

I love how he’s taking the piss out of “video essayists”. There’s so many hour long plus videos out there of people lifelessly, academically analyzing something like video game mechanics to death. Something that could be put succinctly in 10 mins or less into over an hour, because they feel their point of view to be so unique, well developed and important. Just because you can write a several thousand word script about why fallout 4’s story is worse than new Vegas doesn’t make you smart, and doesn’t mean you should.
