Tuacahn's production of The Hunchback of Notre Dame showcases the Disney film’s beloved score as well as new songs by Menken and Schwartz. Peter Parnell’s new book embraces the story's theatrical features with verbatim passages from Hugo’s gothic novel.

High above the Tuacahn stage, the bells of Notre Dame resound through the famed cathedral in 15th-century Paris. Quasimodo, the deformed bell-ringer who longs to be “Out There,” observes all of Paris reveling in the Feast of Fools. Held captive by his devious caretaker, the archdeacon Dom Claude Frollo, he escapes for the day and joins the boisterous crowd, only to be treated cruelly by all but the beautiful gypsy, Esmeralda. Quasimodo isn’t the only one captivated by her free spirit, though – the handsome Captain Phoebus and Frollo are equally enthralled. As the three vie for her attention, Frollo embarks on a mission to destroy the gypsies – and it’s up to Quasimodo to save them all.

Just watched this on Saturday. We had a group of 8 and everyone loved it. Esmeralda had an amazing voice. The Hunchback was played to perfection. Amazing cast, great set design.

It was AMAZING! I’ve seen the Hunchback of Notre Dame 5 different times. The original at La Jolla Playhouse, then on to PaperMill Playhouse, in the round at Music Circus and then followed that cast to La Miranda. This is my favorite version. It wins out over John McGinty and Jim Hogan in the round by sheer spectacle. (The in the round, face to face with John McGinty signing and Jim Hogan singing was powerful! It didn’t translate as well to proscenium.) The sets, the bells, the costumes, the casting! All fantastic! It was 100 degrees when we saw it and we would see it again, just to see it again!

This performance is really spectacular. I love the hunchback of Notre Dame with the Disney songs there’s so iconic and I so love Hellfire by far the best Disney villain song ever.

SUCH an amazing production and such moving, emotional songs! The actors are all so talented and Justin Luciano KILLED it!! He put so much work and details into Quasimodo's character! Highly recommend!!

Just watched this last week, and my family and I absolutely loved every moment of it. Amazing cast, great set design, and the performance was out of this world. Must must must watch for lovers of musicals.

Just returned from our annual Tuacahn season trip. Of the three we saw, Hunchback was the best! Randal Keith’s “Hellfire” is on par with Patrick Page (if not better…..)

Could you please elaborate a little, how this version differs from The original 2016(?) Papermill's / LaJolla Playhouse production, that later went on to Berlin and then to Vienna, until recently? Are these the same songs& lyrics than that, or based on the movie, more? Did you only change the stage backgrounds/ costumes and generally have higher production values in terms of effects etc..? I really liked the minimal stage props in the former version..But this looks fantastic also, speaking of the fire effects..etc.., Just was wondering about the differences and commonalities?! 🙂Thanks!
