Victron Orion-Tr Smart DC-DC charger Features and Benefits

The Orion-Tr Smart DC-DC charger is a professional DC to DC adaptive 3-stage charger with built-in Bluetooth.

For use in dual battery systems in vehicles or on boats where the (smart) alternator and the start battery are used to charge the service battery. The unit can be monitored and programmed via Bluetooth and can be remotely controlled via a remote on/off switch and has an engine running detection mechanism.

The Orion-Tr Smart charger can be used in 12V or 24V systems and is suitable for both lead acid and lithium batteries. Models are available up to 400W and unlimited multiple units can be connected in parallel to increase output power.

Suitable for high temperatures up to 55°C with a full rated output up to 40°C.

you really good explain everything thank you for yuou chanel but i was buy one of this, and i woud like to asking you about smart charger alternator is that should be on when you connecting to all battery ?I mean, after connecting to the battery, will the diode start working independently or do I have to connect the cable to the smart alternator and it will only start working

I've got the 18a 12 12 model installed in my caravan. I've had to pull the input voltages in the setup for the shutdown down a fair way in order for it to stay on (12.5v shut off) because the original hotwire in my car that I'm using is a bit thin (10 gage for 10m). I know this isn't the correct way to do this and I should replace the wiring but it does appear to work with those settings. Do you think this will be ok? Will I damage anything doing this? I was told the unit will pull a lot more current from my starter battery?

Upgrading my 55amp Alternator on Yannar 3jh2-tce to Balmar XT DF 170 Amp alternator with external MC -614 regulator what is stopping me from charging 600AH lithium bank ( has external smart BlMS) directly and using the Orion-TR Smart DC-DC charger to charge the starter battery. what fusing / protection devices would e appropriate?

nono, for the smart alternating vehicles its not an option to use this model at all. Turning it on/off using the remote bridge is for all who don’t use a VSR voltage sensing relay. For smart alternators Victron has its own model
and... don’t use the ignition contact but the delayed contact, that switches the radio aso, otherwise the Orion starts when you need energy to start the motor!
