Love the concept, but the timeframe doesn’t work. July 2026 is too late in the Trump term to have real impact. If they can develop anything by July of 2025, it could be worked into reconciliation as a savings offset for other things Trump wants to do, such as tax cuts. The rules on what can pass in reconciliation are opaque, but they have some room to work with.

Having it in 2026, means it runs headlong into members of congress running for reelection. Given that most administrations face a backlash in the midterms, going to the voters with a laundry list of spending cuts, will be tricky and horribly mischaracterized by the opposition.

DOGE can work. It must be defined and set up so all businesses can express their regulatory frustrations. Businesses can identify themselves by their IRS business codes, complete a DOGE Database questionnaire and be willing to discuss possible solutions with DOGE.
