Actually Khalid ibn al-Walid was a much different character than the depiction here. I very much like his historical character, however the numbers of the Battle of Yarmuk are extremely bloated. The Byzantine Empire that he fought was severely weakened due to previous wars. He was fighting Ghassanid and Tanukhid peasants at Yarmuk, not armoured footmen. His army was comprised of skilled soldiers, unlike his opponents, and modern scholars estimate both sides had around 40, 000 troops. The Arabic accounts say 200, 000, but that is more soldiers than Byzantium had in total. It was a medium sized army of 40, 000 that had traveled too far south, and set camp. They had the disadvantage and Khalid had the advantage on the battle - yet it still took him 6 days to fully defeat the army, even with full troop and terrain advantage and similar army sizes. And he fought only around 30 battles, some of which were major battles. The numbers that say 100+ are incorrect and bloated - there is no actual historical source to back it up. In addition, he rarely fought as the main commander in an army. He was often a side general. Salah ad-Din Yusuf ibn Ayyub is a much greater general, and the best of the muslim commanders in history.
