Super Thanks (see below the video screen)

Learn how to play Riders on the Storm, as performed by The Doors from their 1970 L.A. Woman album. A super interesting song carrying forward inspiration from Ghost Riders in the Sky combined with storm sound effects, and dark but beautiful lyric pictures painted by Jim Morrison.

The lesson covers Robbie Krieger's great guitar work AND I'll show you how to play the keyboard intro and the keyboard solo on guitar too.

It was brought to my attention that the Ray Manzarek keys part is a D Maj scale, not Em as I had said in the vid. One note difference, but oh well. The chart in the vid is correct, just got the scale name wrong.

This was played every morning on our high-school intercom system 1973. Probably why I hitched hiked to California from Pittsburgh PA. 1975. Still here in Cali. And learning many Doors song on guitar.

That's what I'm talking about! I believe I requested this recently, including the keyboard solo and the outro. Thank you for taking the time to put together this tour de force of a lesson, keeping it approachable, and revealing a little bit of what makes this song so otherworldly and yet such a classic. I have no idea how you will top this one, but I look forward to future lessons!

Awesome lesson, this is the only lesson I have seen anyone do on the keyboard part. I have the piano notes and have attempted some transcriptions to the fretboard. Thank you for sharing you knowledge and skills. I'm tugging hard on chain of mine.

There's a great video if you can find it of Ray Manzarek and Robbie Krieger talking about writing the song. They said it was based on Ghost Riders In The Sky.
