Oteil Burbridge of The Allman Brothers Band talks about the band Frogwings featuring Derek Trucks, Jimmy Herring, John Popper, Butch Trucks, Marc Quinones, and Kofi Burbridge, how it led to him joining The Allman Brothers Band, having to replace Warren Haynes and Allen Woody when they quit the band, auditioning for Dickey Betts, playing with The Allman Brothers longer than any other bassist, the changing lineup of the band, and playing with Bill Kreutzmann and Scott Murawski.

I met Jerry when he was in Shadowfax. I LOVE his eyes when he's singing in the Shadowfax video, "What Goes Around"! So calm and soulful!!
Anyway, he told me that he used to be in a band called, The Flock, so I went out & dug up both of their albums. I'd seen the 2nd one in stores when it came out, but never knew about the 1st one until about 20 years ago. In fact, one of the tracks from it is going to be in The Enpsychlopedia! A huge psychedelic collection I've been together for a while.

Love this cat! There is a fantastic Jerry Goodman ( former Mahavishnu Orchestra violinist) album ( "Stranger's Hand") w/ Oteil playing bass, scat singing, and generally being a bad ass. The other guys on it are Howard Levy (The Flecktones) and Steve Smith on drums. It was my first exposure to the cat, and he is indeed an amazing musician.

The final lineup of the Allman Brothers Band was absolutely the Best of the entire life of the Brothers and Oteil was Absolutely an Anchor in that band. No disrespect to anyone who was a member and I’ve been listening to them since the start.
