I'm adoring Strange New Worlds so far! I love how the plots do carry some plot points from show to show, but each episode is a self-contained story, just like TOS, TAS and the TNG era. Seeing Uhura, Chapel and Spock in this early point in their careers is a treat too! I'm really looking forward to more!

I think they did a great job updating the interior's appearance. The overall layout of controls on the bridge stations is similar to that in TOS, and it's not 100% touch screens like TNG. Instead there's sections full of buttons like on the TOS Enterprise. It also looks very much like an evolution of the _Enterprise_ series bridge controls, which is a nice touch.

It proves you can update the look without throwing away the past. Making it all touch controls and/or holographic isn't necessary to make it look modern.

Although I hope for a live action show set in the 2380's to 2400's (I love LD but still) I'm impressed with the first two episodes and hope they keep up the quality of the show.

I thought the last episode was really good. The whole Sentient comet thing feels straight out of TNG and actually makes you think. Unlike some plots in Disco/Picard

Strange New Worlds is already a great show. And a welcome addition. I like each and every show for their own little niche myself. And I marvel at people that get their balls in a twist instead of enjoying a thing for what it is. Surely there are lemons out there crying that the look got an update. It only makes sense. Filming and sfx are better. Materials and tech are. And everything is in 4K. In 1960s the resolution was barely 720. Its a huge difference and warrants changes.

It’s great so far! But I really do hate the “everyone has a tragic past” trope that all the new trek series have and now this one. It’s an annoying cliché. Other than that it’s an 8/10. Best of the new series!

I think it's starting off really good and I'm excited to see how star trek goes from now on.

I'd love to see them introduce Science Officer Commander Sonak earlier in his career before the transporter accident of The Motion Picture.

I watch episode 1 on YouTube yesterday. It's probably up for a limited time on the Paramount Plus YouTube channel.

Captain Pike is my captain.
Also, the funniest way to watch TOS is to think of Shatner as an actor in-universe who is portraying the events actually performed by someone else.

What we really want to know is...how much padding is going on under Pike's uniform? I'ma need to see him topless to "more deeply understand his character"....

Loving SNW's 1st & 2nd episodes and excited for more.

I'm quite liking SNW so far, sure it has a few problems (such as Spock and T'Pring's relationship) but overall I like it,

The one thing that does jar me a little is Pikes reaction to his fate... sure it's tragic and not something he's going to look forward to, but it's a good few years off yet, so as it's "completely unavoidable" it pretty much means he's invincible until that point... that should actually make him take more risks and be reckless rather than pout and worry about it in his ready-room

They did a good job updating the set design...however, it had the unfortunate effect of making the TNG and even some DS9 sets look dated. Voyager looks fine because they used a lot of gray and metallic tones. Even the interior of the Stargazer in ST Picard looks like a contemporary of SNW's Enterprise instead of being a century or so in the future.

Thanks for this video. I've passed on Discovery and Picard, so I had no interest in watching Strange New Worlds until you posted, and I really enjoyed the first episode. It feels like Star Trek!

I am really looking forward to SNW as soon it streams in Germany. This butchered start is kinda annoying because avoiding spoilers in the media meta we live in today is incredible hard especially if YT decides to Autoplay again because why should the biggest enterprise in technology be able to set a freaking cooky for preference...
But that's not the point rn.
I am looking forward to it and i hope it will give me some good time like Dis and Pic before.

Not sure if i can get into a episodic format again because episodic for me simply means a lot of plot that is just unresolved or unrealized. That said i grew up with TNG and watched TOS later so maybe it will give me some memories and nods to my childhood.

Let's just hope to not have to cope with magical miticondrians or tech that's way more evolved than the one that's supposed to be there at its right time
