The Google Voice mobile app allows you to place calls that show your Google number as the outbound caller ID, make cheap international calls, and visually navigate between voicemail messages.

I was surprised how seamless and robust the web app was. I bookmarked it right to my home screen and it's a cinch now to make calls, etc from Google Voice.

@flashatizer Correct, however now that GV is using contact specific connecting numbers, you're still limited to 5 friends and family.. even IF they're on the same network as you. The connecting numbers are oblivious to network destination of the contact.

You use a web-link. Open webpage in the video in your iphone. A text message needs to be sent to your phone. Open the text message and click the link. Google voice page will open then save the page it navigates to as a favorite.
That's it.

@TheAbundantYeti Nope just open the webpage from within your iphone it will ask you to put in your phone so it can send a txt message. open the link and save the page as your favorite.

@nsnari Not in America. I think that's why it hasn't been released yet.

Just to be clear: there IS NO actual Google Voice App for iPhone. When you read the instructions, you go to the Google Voice site in your browser. The mobile site is surprisingly easy to use...

You can click the BOOKMARK button (+) at the bottom of the Safari browser and touch "Add to Home Screen". This will add an icon in your list, but it will still pull it up in the browser. Until Apple stops trying to appease AT&T, we will unfortunately have no G-Voice app.

It might be, check the place you download new apps, otherwise it's not available (you might want to research if they're ever considering releasing it on Windows phones)

You aren't able to see in the iTunes store because you need to be able to send and receive calls first. Perhaps you'll be able to utilize the calling function on the iPhone one day. Until then, you may need to switch to Android where there are no limitations.

When will the mobile app be available on the Palm Pre?

Stuff like this is the only thing holding me back from getting a Windows phone. I agree with you. But look at this point of view. Android OS is FREE (as in beer) and open source. So is Firefox and Linux. Linux isn't that good as far as a desktop is concerned but as a server it's number one. Free, open source is here to stay and it's only getting better. I love my Windows machine though. You have to admit Windows is awesome.

Now that smartphones flood the market you'll find people who use their phone without phone service. This app with talkatone makes it possible to have limited phone use free. And an extra ipod with the right app can be used as a hot spot .

when will this feature be available for other phones other than iPhones or Androids, Blackberry?

@nsnari Thats Because Nokia Phones Blow. But I Find It Disturbing That There Isn't An App For Windows Mobile.

@Euriskan Didn't say I hadn't heard of it, said I haven't heard anyone brag about it, it's kinda in the same category as t-mobile which is why I can understand third-party apps for iphone and androids don't make it there main priority. First off, I don't have an iphone, sprint 3D droid ftw, so I don't know how any of that works, but aside from buying one of the phones that do work with it like the two there and the windows phone and such, I'm just saying not to care too much, skype is better.

@punntended i know this a year late but if you type "google V" in the search box. it should be the first thing listed.

Just installed the app on my Android using my existing mobile number with Google Voice on my gmail account/google voice account. After installing the app on my phone I was amazed. The voicemail (which I hate checking already anyway) instantly transcribes the voicemail into a text message. Nice! No more listening to voicemail :) Well let's see :/
