Bonsai - How to air layer a large neglected English Elm Bonsai tree Part 1

Step by step air layering technique and how to make two bonsai trees from one.
It started as a carving session with Will Baddeley and turned into air layering of the Large neglected Elm. It took three months for the air layer to be successful and a further six months delay in completing this video.

I have some trees in my yard with branches I would like to air layer off, rather then just pruning them and throwing out forever. Watching something like this gives me confidence that it can be done, even in a large size. I have had success with much smaller air layer, but that tree you have looks huge! Glad you had some Polish power to assist you!

I have Chinese elm in the ground in India but never tried air layer so this video has given me an idea to do it now, I have tried to grow 1000 Times cuttings of an elm but never succeeded in it. Is it a hard wood?

Hi, I am trying to air layer pomegranate and ficus. I am using sphagnum moss and rooting hormone (N-6 Naphthaleneacetic acid). After two weeks, I see that the leaves are turning yellow. I opened one of the layers and noticed a few root (small, seems not growing very well).

What could have gone wrong and how to troubleshoot?
