Are you sick of people calling your house and confusing you with your little sister? Or have you noticed strange changes in your voice? Cracks, creaks, squeaks? Your voice may be changing and this is one of the many changes that occur in puberty and it's all due to your hormones. Let me explain a little bit of what's going on.
Your pituitary gland, which is that gland that sits at the base of your brain and sends out a signal to the rest of your body to start to make changes. And one of those changes occurs in your voice box which is also known as your larynx. Within your voice box there are two muscles which are called your vocal chords. The hormones trigger changes in those vocal chords and changes in your voice box.
As they expand and as they grow, your voice starts to change and it starts to get deeper. All of this is a normal part of puberty. You may notice that you sound squeaky and a little weird at first, but trust me, as you get older and as you move through puberty, your voice will start to settle back into what it will sound like as an adult. So don't freak out if you're voice is changing, if it sounds squeaky, or like a little girl. You'll have your man voice in no time.
