In 2020 the government instituted the Payroll Protection Program, fondly known as #ppp . At the same time there was another program initiated call the Employment Retention Credit #ERC Initially the deal was that if you applied for PPP you could not apply for the ERC.

Almost every small business applied for the PPP because it was easy to do as the banks administered it for you. Then the pandemic got worse and in early 2021 the law changed so that even if you received PPP you could now ALSO get the ERC.

Unfortunately the ERC Program is a 170 page document and is not administered by the banks and is so complicated that it is almost impossible to apply to by yourself. You need the assistance of an expert. However it's worth the hassle because you can receive up to $26,000 per employee.
