The World's Fastest Scooter!

We join a 2 Stroke loving daredevil as he attempts to set a new world record for the fastest speed on a 250cc Vespa Scooter! Anything with 2 wheels and a two stroke motor gets us properly excited, and this story is just another example of why that's the case. We meet up with Vespa speed demon Adie Horrocks at Elvington Airfield for the Straightliners Speed Week to see if he can smash the world record on a super tuned Italian crotch rocket. As a Hayabusa owner 130mph sounds like somewhere around 2nd gear or a nice cruising speed where roads allow.
As a Grom owner (and with a bit of scooter experience) 130mph on wheels that small sounds bloomin terrifying. With a "frame" that wobbly aswell the term "s0d that" comes to mind.
Best of luck to the loony. Sounds like a man after my own heart.

Well done, owned 8 Lambrettas 1 Vespa 180, rode it from Birmingham to Stockholm in 1968, no phone no credit card no breakdown !! Now have a SYM Voyager 250, like a 2 wheel car heated grips, jacket, screen looking forward to pootling up M6 from Stourport to West coast of Scotland fingers crossed for good weather in July 18:22

Great content as always Max! I used to have a RD350LC and I worked with a bloke who had a vespa, he used to say that you can tune vespa scooters to blow away a RD350LC! I laughed at him and used to think he was crazy, but now I know different! Well done Ade 🤩

In 1951, Romolo Ferri on a factory Lambretta 125 clocked 125.6 over a flying mile on the Ingolstadt motorway. Faired, of course.

I have been on one of the early 1950s factory 125 racers in Australia.

I remember fitting Dunlop TT100 tires to a Kawasaki 900. These tires had more triangular profile than the preferred Michelin tires. When I rode the Bike it developed a speed wobble at 70MPH. I tried to ride through it but by 80MPH the bike was using the full width of the lane to go straight, and was obviously going to spit me off if I kept accelerating. I sold the TT100s to a mate (I think he had a Norton Commando at that time) and went back to Michelins.

My tuned 70cc Yamaha Aerox did 140 km/h (~87 mph) and it was manageable in itself, but the thought of seizing the engine and locking the rear wheel at that speed (it has a CVT) was terrifying enough for me to not try it again.

I inherited my dads vespa with a big bore kit and aftermarket exhaust system and 50 mph is scary never mind those speeds😂🤘🤘

ZX-4RR 399cc can go 124 mph, now this 244cc single cylinder Vespa can do almost the same that is crazy!
