I want to share 9 troubling trends that could place dividend stock investors at risk. Investing in 2022 carries risk factors unlike any other era, and here's how I'm personally navigating the risk with my dividend stock investing strategy.

Timestamps:
0:00 Introduction
1:31 Thank you for hanging in there! I'm excited to be back on YouTube!
1:47 Health comes first. While I was sick, my dividends kept rolling in.
1:59 TREND 1: Mortgage Interest Rates Are Surging
2:13 Mortgage rates are up about 67% in just 6 months time! This is an alarming trend that affects consumers and businesses.
3:24 TREND 2: Inflation Is Surging!
3:58 Inflation rose by 9.1% in June. This the highest inflation rate since 1981.
4:38 Dividends cannot keep up with the pace of inflation. That being said, I do see inflation reverting to the mean over time. I'm in it for the long-term.
5:41 TREND 3: Bond Yields Are Surging (I'm investing in Treasuries for passive income)
5:52 I thought I'd never see the 20-Year Treasury at 3.4% yield.
6:00 Check Out My Corner Patreon for my Bond Portfolio.
6:44 I Bonds are yielding 9.62%. Check out my I Bond video!
7:08 I'm excited to take advantage of these bond opportunities, but it's also alarming to see a government-issued savings bond product yield 9.62%.
7:49 TREND 4: We are experiencing major geopolitical events that could define the next decade (or more).
8:47 Certain consumers in China are facing major banking issues.
10:08 We live in a brand new world. Stock market investing and dividend stock investing is different than ever before.
10:25 TREND 5: Fiscal and Monetary Policy Is Out of Control
10:42 The US National Debt has crossed $30 Trillion! (Up from $21.5 Trillion in 2018.)
11:19 We are now seeing the outcome of the experimental government policies of the last few years.
11:39 TREND 6: Global Health - Could We Face Issues Again?
12:42 KEY POINT: Can our economy really shoulder another pandemic? I don't think it can.
12:55 TREND 7: Our Aging Population
13:47 TREND 8: Blue Chip Tech Stocks Have Tanked
14:04 NFLX is down 64% in the last year!
14:20 Dividend stocks are crushing it in this environment. Core dividend stocks are one of the only asset classes performing well.
15:08 TREND 9: Crypto Is Facing Liquidity Issues (Lehman Brothers Moment)
15:22 Terra USD destroys $60 billion in value
16:36 It's not just 1 trend, it's not just 2 trends, there are a multitude of trends!
18:38 TREND 10: The stock market, over long periods of time, tends to prevail despite challenges!
19:20 MY DIVIDEND STOCK INVESTING STRATEGY
19:27 I'm super focused on quality (JNJ, SBUX, PEP)
19:56 I focus on what I can control. What else can I do other than buy dividend stocks?
20:37 I understand that losses happen in at-risk assets.
21:12 Only 1 strategy has worked for me: core dividend stocks.
22:18 DISCLOSURE AND DISCLAIMER

DISCLOSURE: I am long Johnson & Johnson (JNJ), Starbucks (SBUX), and PepsiCo (PEP). I own these stocks in my personal dividend stock portfolio. I am also long Treasury Bonds and I Bonds. My wife is long Amazon (AMZN).

No worries for me. I just think of the GOAT: Ronald Read. Dividend investor who built an $8 million fortune on a janitor's income. Monthly dividend checks amounting to $20, 000 he was getting from his 95 blue chip companies when he died at 94. Stay the course. Sure, he probably started real young, and I might not live that to his age. But my heirs will still be around.

Ian, you are the one that helped get me over the hurdle of whether I should be investing in high quality dividend stocks or continue chasing the next big thing. I'm glad to report that those ole boring dividend stocks are the only green in my accounts at this moment. So I thank you for your wisdom and will continue down this path. You are a wonderful person and have a kind soul. God bless

I learned early on that the only constant in life...is change. I believe due to technology, we are now living in a time of rapid change. That can be difficult to deal with for some people. Being a DGI'er keeps me focused on what is important in investing and in life. It helps me slow down, enjoy the moment and look to the future. Thanks for the timely video for uncertain times! Glad you are well, my friend.

the only other trend I see that is disturbing is all the you tube channels preaching doom and gloom telling me to sell all my investments and prep for the end of the world I'm not a big fan of warren buffet but I agree with his statement don't bet against the USA you will lose if you do maybe because I am older and have seen hard times what is happening this year is unpleasant but I know we will get through this and be stronger in the end

Maxed out my iBonds investment earlier this year, wish I could've put more in. Looks like the return should get a bit better this fall.

My friend said your stock is down 2$ a share. Yeah but still paying me 5.5 % on my money. Not worried.
Thank you Ian.

Great video, Ian. Its nice to see this kind of macro analysis, where you present a broader and longer perspective on investing. Another big trend might be the climat crisis. At the moment its forgotten, because of inflation and the awfull war in Ucraine. But its a major challenge, and it will affect the world and the economies in many ways.

The best YouTube channel for dividend investors by far 👍

I agree. I am not that sharp about the stock market but what you are saying is what I have been sensing for a long time. Every thing feeds the negative information flowing into our minds. Our paradigm is being forced into a major CHANGE!

Those who pull the financial levers have been warning about run away inflation since at least 17, i remember in 18 the fed tried to raise the rate because we were showing signs then

Ian! Big ups from California! I was worried when I didn’t see you post for a couple weeks. Glad you are recovering well!

Some nasty news in 2022 is Ian not posting thug life dividend videos recently. 😂
