The eternal struggle of not wanting to use heat to style your hair and wanting a good night sleep. I've tried so many things that either don't hold or are too uncomfortable that I just give up. You can tell how miserable you were in the morning, not worth it 😅

lets be honest ! we all watch her videos and look at our own hair and cry for being born with it haha, I never seen such a pretty healthy hair like hers, its how she cares for it but for sure its more of the genetics, all your hair care natural masks and hacks are spot on and really helps to keep our hair at its best state regardless of its type, thank you for sharing <3

Hi Sarah, Curl only up to your chin then all the rods will be under your chin, off your head and you'll have a more comfortable nights sleep! This is how I always used to do it before I cut and donated my hair. I'm looking forward to growing it back out and doing this again x

Greetings from New Zealand.
The issue with sleeping with the rods was likely not that they were too tight, but just the sheer volume of hair, which means so much more bulk and lumpiness than short hair makes.
Have you tried the robe tie method (or the heatless curler based on it)? My hair is down to my butt now (I lost it all a few years back with chemo), and I have taken to putting it up at night with the robe tie tie, to keep it up and out of the way for sleeping. It doesn't take any longer than braiding does (once you get the hang of it), keeps your hair out of the way for sleeping, makes wearing a sleeping bonnet easier, and you get fab curls in the morning 😊
With really long hair, the curl won't stay at the top because the weight of the hair below it pulls it down.
For definition, you might like to try something like a "twisting cream". It hydrates the hair beautifully without leaving it feeling all "product-y". It was originally developed for 3c (African type) hair, but it actually workes great for straight hair too, particularly course or really long hair, which can have issues with drying and damage.
