Tosin Abasi's metronomic intro riff from 'Ectogenesis' (Animals as Leaders)

How do you describe this riff? It sounds like a metronome, a guitar riff and a thumping bassline, all at once. I know he uses metronome to stay on time but that doesn't explain the sounds he can create/make through guitar. PS: Should seriously consider giving up playing guitar at this point. ✌🏻

Tosin abasi is hilarious sometimes, because he will make an extremely beginner mistake when he's playing live, while doing the most complicated technique and rhythm you've ever seen. It makes his playing feel so much more real.

I never hear this guy make anything remotely melodic, memorable, or approaching what most would consider “a song”
