I feel like Im the only one who interprets this song not as a sad song but as a song of trust. I see it as a person who has been hurt and broken their whole life and is tired of trying, but then they meet someone. "If you give me your armor you can have my heart." They want the person they trust their heart to to protect it and in return they will give you their heart, no matter how broken. I feel like this song has a deeper meaning than just i have a broken heart. Idk maybe im wrong. But this is how i see the song.

This song is just so much more than a breakup song. It can be interpreted for someone who has struggled their whole life and is just tired of the emotional bullshit. Death, lies, abandonment, depression, drugs, abuse, war, crime, bullying, etc. All this shit causes pain in someway and our “heart” takes the pain because it literally feels like someone stabbed it or dropped it in ice. Just imagine if we could literally trade the proverbial heart that feels pain in exchange for armor. The thought is...beautiful.
