We aren't enemies we are brothers we've forgotten. Its time to remember, we have actual enemies that want us dead or in chains. The lamp burns low what will you do when it gets dark?🙏🇺🇲🙏

We weren’t enemies until the government told us so. It’s a crying shame. Still happening today (2024)

Life in all respects is brutal and terribly unfair. I was a US Marine, spent 30+ years in law enforcement, 25 as a Special Agent FBI. Native Montanan, and spent time on several Native American Reservations. The indigenous peoples are very warm and kind; they of all Americans have been treated severally unfairly. Humanity(if you can call it that) needs to return to GOD and start treating all people with dignity and kindness regardless of past wrongs. GOD bless America!

I believe this was duttons grandfather yeah? The original Dutton from 1883 series. He was a brute of a man to protect his family but he still wanted to work with the natives and let them through his lands

It’s their land. No wonder this country supports settler colonialism still today given half the people in this comment section.

It's a damn shame when you have to ask permission to stand on your own land, especially when it's the land of your father's, to put him to rest. The very same thing happens to the Duttons a 100yrs later. Why honor their claim and not respect the Indians... Makes me sick!!!

In my opinion at this point they should leave Yellowstone dead. Especially if Kevin Costner isn't coming back.
They should really focus more on this story.

Why did he ask him where he wanted to bury him, immediately after the guy told him? Doesn't make any sense...

To be fair he DID take their land. He isn’t entitled to it. Not really. Only by the laws of his own people can he claim it.

Was this scene in Yellowstone? I don’t remember it. It wasn’t in 1883.

yes, we could have done better. it also seems you need to read up on native american history, and how they treated other indians.

I’m sorry. It’s not your land anymore. You lost. Get over it because it’s never going to be officially yours again but it can be yours in the same way that I see it. Home. I was born here same as you but my culuture will never give it up without a damn apocalypse basically. Your culture got swatted away with the indifference it deserved but you can be the same as us, American. Or an outcast until you fade away. W/e. I’d prefer a neighbor over sentence in a history textbook but that’s up to them. There is no native bastion. There is only the land America allies you to squat on. Like a long term campsite.
