Decided to explain a bit more about myself instead of keeping it a mystery. I hope my content speaks for itself, but some of my subscribers asked to explain a bit more about myself.

Thank you so much for this content Daniel. I lived in Hong Kong from 2012 to 2017, currently live in China, and also one of my children was born in Hong Kong. So I can see exactly where you're coming from, and share your frustrations regarding the current situation in Hong Kong. I haven't really posted anything about it on social media, but yesterday I posted your video on FB about the mainland girl being attacked by mobs, and people who I thought of as close friends started cursing at me and making personal attacks. I didn't even mention anything political, I just asked what was the girl's crime justifying her attacks? And out came the angry mob. It's scary....

Super like!!!! I’m living abroad and my kid is half Chinese. I’m facing the exact challenge on how to raise my kid to be proud of being related to China in an environment which is full of irresponsible media spreading fake news about China and spreading anti-China rhetoric. What you are doing will be a great help for families like mine. Thank you thank you!!!

RESPECT to this man. He's hit the nail on the head- my mum has the exact same xenophobic treatment described. He's not a shill, he's a humanist shedding light on the issues of cohabitation. Big up.

I am a Hong Kong citizen and I am staying in Melbourne with my kids. I think you know China more than me. I love China not just because she is my home country but also for what she has been doing. I am soooo proud to be a Chinese. I will go back to Hong Kong once my kids finished university here🤞

You have lived in different political systems including the Brit, Canada, China and Hong Kong. You also have married to someone from Mainland China and have done business in China. You have a lot of credibility. Thank you for doing these videos.

Thanks for taking the trouble to voice out against the nonsense happen in HK everyday. Many ordinary HK people are extremely frustrated by flood of propaganda and biased media and there's nothing we can do, as you said it's something institutional. Please keep it up, appreciate your effort

中文很不错👍
About the Sichuan earthquake, I survived from it, and that was the time I started to think positive about CCP. They saved my family and rebuild my hometown-Shifang.
Second, about the culture revolution. My grandpa committed suicide in 1966 because he was a headmaster and was purged. But history is history, culture revolution is over and we focus more on society stability now. I think that poverty and social chaos make Chinese people more immune to the big words like democracy and freedom.
Third, with regard to the Xinjiang issue, I used to working in Karamay city, Xinjiang. I have many Uyghur friends, and we have discussed a lot about if they are discriminated or they are given too much privilege. Things are complicated, I can not make all the points here. However, the false claim about the concentration camp is really come out of nowhere. If you take a look at the the 22 countries blaming China, they are all US allies, while the 37 countries supporting China are mostly Islamic countries. The is clear evidence that concentration camps are just re-education camps helping eliminate radical Islamic separatists.

Last point, I really love Shenzhen, I lived in Nanshan district and Futian district for one year before go to study in Texas. During that year, I have traveled to Hong Kong several times, the discrimination really makes me sick. I really think Hong Kong has no future compared to Shenzhen. And it is very disgusting that the Hong Kong people discriminate mainland Chinese because they think they are more superior due the colonial era.

Seeing the dumpster fire that is western social media on the issue, it really is so goddamn comforting to see someone educated with common sense voicing out his opinion. Please keep doing these videos, really informative.

Hi Daniel, I am an American of Chinese descent and I moved to Shenzhen around a year and a half ago. I’m experiencing a lot of what you are speaking about in this video. I was making a decent living as a tech entrepreneur in SF, but felt compelled to move here due to some of the things you touched on in this video. I rarely make any comments on YouTube but this video really spoke to me and I felt I had to make myself seen. Even if you don’t read this, it’s ok, maybe I will come over to the brewpub when this whole virus thing blows over and I’ll see if I can find you hanging around there. Also, I just recently got married to a Chinese wife so I guess I’m in for a wild ride over here. Happy to film a few videos and do some collabs if you have the free time. I don’t generally do social media but I’ve been thinking about getting into it seeing all this stuff online recently. Take it easy and stay healthy out there!

Excellent video. We actually have similar situation except I am Chinese and my wife is British. We live in another southern city not far from Shenzhen and have a business here too. Very similar views on current event. I even had similar negative views on China as you did as I spent many years in the west. But returning to China has reopened my eyes. I think through this HK event many people are seeing more of the truth. Keep it up the good work.
