Been using Deepin for 3 months and I love it. I've been a windows user for 2 decades and then Windows 11 came out and I said enough is enough with all
the hoops you have to jump through just to install it. I looked around for a bit and looked at Macintosh, wasn't my cup off tea just to expensive and besides I wanted to stick with a PC.
Then I found Deepin and been using it ever since. The learning curve is very low for a previous windows user and it just works out of the box, network, wireless, printers etc..
No drivers to search for its all there. I can even keep using WORD in the Chrome browser. I'm very happy with Deepin.

Bruh this distribution is so good. This is what a real beginnger linux distro looks like. Everything is just there. No wonky fiddling around to get similar features to windows. It just sucks that this distro is chinese so its not really recommended as much as others distros. We need more distros like this one. Not every linux experience needs to be highly configurable and terminal-restricted. Some people just want a desktop with alot of features and works right out the box

I have been using this distro for years now. I have huawei matebook x pro and this OS is absolutely what I needed. I changed the apt source to official debian, used german mirrors and have not had any issues yet. I do understand concerns of other people regarding data privacy but since this is open source project, I have faith in deepin.

Good morning from Montreal.
At 2am this morning, I watched your presentation of Deepin 20.5. Thank you for your superbly done production review. As always, your reviews are the ones that other reviewers watch first, and then try to imitate. I did download the ISO from Google drive and installed it onto real hardware.
My keyboard is the Canadian French model layout.
At reboot, the login screen did not recognize it. I had to use the USA layout to get into the system. Thereafter, for the GUI interface, the Canadian French layout was working. This issue reminded me of another distribution that had the same issue.
I decided to enter termiinal mode, Once again, the keyboard layout was the wrong one -- USA, even though my setup was for Canadian French. This issue reminded me of another distribution that had the same issue.
Finally, the screen resolution was way out of line. Instead of 1920x1080, I got 768x1024. I had this same issue beginning with Deepin 20.1 and follow up.

It is too bad. I do like the Deepin distro, and it is sad that I have to take the deepin interface from one that respects keyboard layouts and screen resolutions in graphics and terminal modes.

Another interesting situation. /etc/fstab showed the Deepin partitions, but the GUI showed all partitions on my system, and in RWX mode.

Sadly, I will have to wait for the next version before trying it once again.

Re the tuque, Do you only wear it as a trade-mark for you-tube? I think it is just fine.

Regards
Grandpa Leslie

I just installed this on one of my machines just some minutes ago. I have used Deepin before and this is indeed nr 1 Disto for me! It has to be the most beutiful distro out there and it also just works! I run this on some used HP machines that I got from work when they upgraded their office computers. Its still an I5 in them and fully working so rather then running an angle grinder through the cpu and hard disk and then throwing them away I instead take them home and then wipe and convert them to linux machines for different purposes like lighter forms of game development. Unity and Godot run fine on them at least, as well as web development and I set up one also as a CAD/CAM workstation next to my 3D printer. I ran Fedora just before on this particular machine after watching some video about it being the next Ubuntu. Fedora however refused to recognize the wirless network device on the computer. I guess some distros can be picky on certain hardware. Mint dont recognice it either and to manually trying install the driver required hours of googling and fiddling in the command line and after following all steps and trying installing the driver with some strange terminal command that did not even resemble anything connected to a Broadcom driver installer I still could not get it working so i gave up on that. in Deepin it just works! Another thing with Fedora, or its more a ting with Gnome is the UI handling where u have to press the Windows key to enter the activity menu every time you want to change between programs and also to access the program and activity bar. It is comparable to a combined window switcher and bottom activity /program menu and its only here u can access it, otherwise it is hidden. This adds an extra step that Im also not used to at all. The Fedora review guy also complained a bit about this detail in Gnome. There are some alternatives though using other window managers but Deepins is still hard to beat I think! Deepins UI handling system is also more the standard way that Im used to work with in general. The only thing I noticed now just after install of this version of Deepin was that it wanted to sort of use 2 keyboard layouts at same time and prioritizing the american layout so I had hard time at first changing from american to swedish keyboard but I did it in the end successfully.

Thank you for the review. This is the 3rd review of yours I've watches so far. I find them useful, and you seem to do look at the htop readings in every review. I like it very much, thanks.

a few weeks ago i actually tried installing the deepin desktop environment on my arch install (i use arch BTW) (it was a fresh install at the time). it looks great and has a really clean asthetic but it isnt that customisable, to be honest i couldnt even figure out how to change the desktop background. i think if you want to use the deepin de, just install the whole distro otherwise youll be missing some features.
personally i prefer using i3wm

I have a question regarding UEFI systems, I have a somewhat corrupted efivars folder/partition where it said I have multiple dupe boot entries. Not only that, it has over 200 files in it and it is jam-packed. Are you able to help me fix my efivars? And any advices to manage it properly in the future. Many thanks in advance, cheers.

Seems like Deepin has improved a lot in the past 2 years. Last time I tried it, it was quite buggy and basically form over function.

What distro would you recommend for explicitly running Android apps on a AMD GX-415GA SOC with Radeon HD Graphics?

When I tried 20.5, it lost my sound card and its not even listed.
Deepin 20.4 had no issues.
I hope it gets fixed as I love the face unlock

Mr. Tyler, This is just an idea for a future video. I would like to see someone deep-dive into the new LXQt 1.1 vs LXDE. What would be the reasons to continue to use LXDE ? Where does each excel in 2022 ? What are some of the major problems with either ? Is there any reason to use either on a new computer ?

What would be the difference between using LXQt, and just configuring a KDE Plasma session to use less
resources ?

What are you giving up in LXQt vs. KDE ?

Hi, whenever you do a review such distros new time, can you possibly add a section where you test out third-party software? One common thing about these is that the default app and third-party pre-installed apps look as good as the OS some of the time but as soon as you install something else and open it, the software looks like it came straight out of the 1990s

Initially very impressed, looks very good and easy to personalise. Then I discovered, it wouldn't allow me to drag and drop some files from the hard drive onto a back up drive. This possibly a security feature. But i couldn't find a way to over ride it. Then, it showed a folder as being empty on a portable drive. I had important financial files on it and was worried they'd disappeared. I quickly connected it to my wife's lap top and they there were. Also, for some reason, even though I had selected a UK keyboard. it kept mixing the @ key with the " key. Very annoying. For this reason and a couple of other minor issues I sadly uninstalled it. Back to Zorin.
