The first Academy Award Show was in 1929. The movie 'Freaks' was released in 1932. Freaks movie should have won an Oscar!

Just watch the movie. If you have a brain, you do not need absurd analysis like this. Todd Browning, put it all into the flick. It's all there.
"Freaks" will forever stand as a starkly revealing film about human nature and inhuman humanity. No one past the age of 12 should NOT see this film, —and see it about every 3 - 4 years. It's like reading Huckleberry Finn or Lolita. Any erudite student of literature and art should know this film well. It should be considered a part of every person's holistic education.
I first saw Freaks when I was 10 years old and I cried. several times throughout the film. I still cry watching Freaks. It has never left me, nor does it fail to provide its original punch every time I re-watch the film.
I don't know if Todd Browning was a genius or simply darn lucky, but why would this matter? Good is good!

I'm glad they had a means to support themselves. It beats being locked away in institutions or in a back room. There was a sense of belonging to each other. I wish I could have that. Thanks for posting.

The commentry track on the DVD is one of the best I've ever heard. It's very biographical and insightful to the production!

Were these all of the actors you were able to find info on? Why is this so short?

Just like almost everyone's career who was associated with this movie, this video too is cut short.

And just when you thought it was safe to go outside...it really was. Wow, hard to believe they had a show called Freaks back in the day.

I think it was great that they had the chance to just be together, travel, make money, not always feel like an outsider & having friends...No matter anyones u...They were around other people who were different too. See it's so crazy bcuz on the original Twilight Zone they have an episode where a woman is having surgeries to "appear normal" but until the end when they take off the bandages the Dr. says something in regards to the surgery not working & that she looked worse than ever! & also that he thinks it's time they put her on a farm w/her own kind & just after they show that she was an absolutely BEAUTIFUL woman, but the dr's, nurses etc. They looked different or were the actual normal, beautiful or what she wanted to look like & that is exactly what's messed up. If we all looked like one of those characters; That would make them ok?! Or if we looked like we do now & everyone else looked different or say you looked like you & everyone in the world had 2 mouths or 4 arms or whatever....It's- then we would be the ones in the show. In that Twilight zone episode, Rod Serling says something along these who made up the "normal & how beauty is in the eye of the beholder etc...They had a ball doing some performing. A lot families would give them away or sell them off to the circus or carnival bcuz otherwise it was off to the mental institution...I hear most of them really enjoyed that life & you know; being different is beautiful! So many people I've met w/different types of handicaps I have found have pure hearts like children. And if this movie showed anything...'THE REAL FREAKS were the heartless ones!!!! BostonRachel

There were a lot more cast than the few you show here.

I'm going to take a guess and say that, eventually, they all died.

You've completely forgotten Angelo Rossito - it's the first we see in the still at the beginning of the video. He was still in business in the 1980s, playing Masterblaster in the third Mad Max movie...

Angelo Rossitto was a legitimate film actor, appearing in over 100 movies. For a while he was "Little Angie" the mascot of the L.A. Thunderbirds roller derby team. He also had multiple TV appearances.
