Victoria, named after Queen Victoria of the United Kingdom, is the capital of British Columbia. it is also the home of Coast Salish First Nations. The British settlers started coming here in 1843. Victoria's colonial past is evident by in it's medieval designed bulids such as the perliament building and the Fairmont Victoria building in the Inner Harbour.

Victoria remained as the largest city of British Columbia throughout the twentieth century, until before the pacific railway road was built.

Now Victoria is a city of government, retirement and tourism and some times jokularly called the city as "City of Newly Weds and Nearly Deads".
