Al Neuharth was an amazing interview and person, So deeply did he believe in USA TODAY that he decked out a bus in 1987 and crisscrossed the USA (which he insisted was the only proper name for America), to interview all 50 governors and promote the struggling daily. In Boise, I was there when he interviewed my friend and Idaho Governor, Cecil Andrus. He told me that reporters were servants of democracy.
