Inside Yemen: A Country in Freefall 🇾🇪

►It's easy to label Yemen as a lost cause, with all the misery the media focuses on, but Yemen is so much more— this is not a country that is easily broken. No matter what death or destruction has happened in this country, life perseveres, and it’s a testament to the spirit of the Yemeni people. The narratives of good and evil don’t always neatly fit over any country. Yemen is a land of breathtaking landscapes, resilient people, and a spirit that refuses to be broken. Not exactly the story you’re used to hearing.

Thank you for going to Yemen and showing us the generosity, curiosity and resilience of the Yemeni people in the face of poverty and war. Most of us want the same things: peace, prosperity and respect. Let's all do SOMETHING to make this possibility a REALITY. Blessings on your travels, and to the citizens of the world!

I used to learn about Yemen in my geography textbook at school. It is said that they have the best coffee in the world, but exports were stopped due to the civil war!
Also due to economic factors, many farmers have given up growing coffee and switched to planting khat plant. It is a pity!
Thank you very much Harry for letting us know more about Yemen, really great job! 👍🥰🙏

The women I met are not Yemeni, they are Africans who immigrated to Yemen. Yemeni women are dear to us, they don’t leave their homes😂

“A country with rich culture and history”, “that has not found good people to run it”. Touché. A sad reflection on the current state of the world.

Many years ago ~ Yemenis mined gold from their mountains ~ and traded it with peoples from the Indian subcontinent who arrived by boat to sell textiles, exotic foods and other luxuries. Yemen is an ancient trading culture.

When you said tattoos, I believe you were referring to henna. Unlike tattoos, henna is a temporary dye used to create designs on the skin and naturally fades over time. Tattoos, however, are permanent because the ink is injected into the skin. Henna is generally safe, whereas tattoos might carry risks if done improperly or with harmful inks. henna is a natural dye made from the leaves of the Lawsonia inermis plant, commonly known as the henna tree or hina. The leaves are dried, ground into a fine powder, and mixed with water or other liquids to create a paste. It's popular in regions like South Asia, the Middle East, and North Africa.

I am no Yemeni but I am a Muslim woman and you said that Sharia law is heavily against woman which completely false the true Islam is very considerate to woman and gives her rights and protects her. These things you see and talk about its not Islam its mostly traditions and cultural things. People in the west mistake the Arab culture with Islam, you would be surprised many Haram (Sins) in Islam that Arabs do since they are in their culture and traditions. But as I said People actions doesn't always represent Islam.

I believe many people think of middle east the extreme Muslims and follow religion 100%. No we are humans and most things shown in media if not all are driven by motives that doesn't relate to Islam and even against Islam.

You are wrong about Yemeni women. We feel very comfortable at home and we have men who provide for us❤. Also, there is no specific age for marriage in Yemen and in Arab countries in general. Also, there are areas where there are rich people with high incomes and areas where there are poor people or people with low and medium incomes.

The Yemeni woman is a dear woman, proud of her religion, and she is in honor among her father, brothers, and family. There is no violence against women in Yemen. Rather, my mother, sister, and daughter, I protect them even if it costs me my life.
