At around 2:55, the narration stated “look at her health, though. It was just a simple trade.” Not that it matters, but in my book her low health was the result of TWO separate trades. Anivia’s blood-thirst during the second trade was decisive, and it probably originated in the prospect of her getting a gank. So she started feeling it, which isn’t a good thing when playing against zwag. I don’t play myself (“too much happening on the screen combined with too many buttons to push”), but I enjoy watching good players play. Don’t ask me why because I can’t explain it even to myself. I’ve watched enough zwag games to know five things. The first thing is that experience plays the main role in winning lane for smurf matchups. The smurf will invariably have much better precision gauging fighting conditions and chooses to fight when conditions are favourable, 99 times of 100. The difference in lane behaviour is crystal clear unless the smurf already logged 10 h of gaming that day and is past caring. In contrast to the non-smurf whose fighting decisions are erratic in comparison, all day long. This is noticeable also for small elo differences, even ones that are superficially marginal like bronze vs silver. The second observation is that proficiency with champion mechanics is less important than the first thing. So picking fights correctly usually wins over fancy moves. Yes, I’m not thinking of you, Yasou, nor am I thinking of your brother. Thirdly, fancy moves happen almost exclusively for the smurf. The non-smurf will look like an amateur in most trades and regardless of whether the non-smurf is on his main champion and the smurf is experimenting. Numero quatro is that Riot does an excellent job maintaining an undercurrent of chance in the game despite the threat of snowballing Darius because one kill let him solo the rift herald when nobody was looking. One trade or death or poorly executed wave management decision by the smurf can still turn the lane in favour of the non-smurf. Finally, none of the first four observations matter if the team compositions clearly favour the smurfless team (given they’re not all useless). Even if the smurf is zwag.

I'm an experienced heroes of the storm player, but totally new to LoL. I'm trying to learn top lane and I'm currently playing Malphite. It seems essential to know whether I'm going against ranged or melee when choosing runes, but since I'm new, I have no clue what 95% of the champs do. Is there a way, during the draft, for me to figure out who will be their top laner? Whether they are melee or ranged? What runes to pick? And then later on, whether I need MR or regular armor? Obviously, I'll learn as I play, but in the meantime, what website can I use during the draft that will help me with these decisions? Thanks for any input comment section.
