Respect for that guard. He recognised the young man was upset & did something about it & let him in to the country for a day to see his girlfriend. He took a risk that the young man might not come back. Other guards might not have bothered addressing his distress & have sent him back home without seeing his girlfriend. A little bit of compassion goes a long way.

He took a risk. He had a heart. I appreciate that.

My hats off to this guard. He acted with a passionate human heart, not with his training protocol. If we show true care and compassion, it changes the whole dynamic of the situation. It feels great as a human being to help your fellow man and the feelings this fortunate man was experiencing wanting to see his girlfriend. The young man is more inclined to take his flight back because of the compassion he was shown. A job well done security ❤

I hope his girlfriend knows just how lucky she is to be loved like that. A grown man heartbroken and crying in front of everyone because he can't get to her.... that's love.

If only everyone had alittle empathy, and compassion this world would be an amazing place.

I wish we were given the same grace. When my mom passed away. The day before her burial, my Mexican aunts and uncles came on a bus to meet at us at the border so we could ask for a pass. They do give them for circumstances like this but it’s up to the supervising officer at the time. We brought documents from the mortuary, we certificates, we brought everything to prove my mom had passed away from cancer. The one thing they said to us was “they could have applied for a visa a long time ago when she went into hospice.” My mother had gone into hospice a month before her passing in our own home. Her cancer was so aggressive we could hardly breathe before something new was right before us. My aunts and uncles were in their 60s, why would they stay? Very low risk case and the supervisor wouldn’t even look us in the eyes. I hope it still hunts her today.

As an immigrant, I understand fully well what this guard did. As for my case, I will NEVER forget her name. She was God’s sent. Where she is I ask God to bless her everyday.

That young man has clearly been through a lot I feel terrible for him. He just needed to see her. That guard did the right thing.

This is a model of an officer with humanity. Most of them should be prepared as him.

My Big respect for this border officer: He strongly understands how emotional and upset he was. The dude was only allowed to visit for a day to see his GF before getting deported with biggest emotions.

This happened to my now husband when we would still fly back and forth from Germany and the States to see each other.
I got a call from him when I was at the destination airport waiting for him to deplane. He said that they had pulled him out of line as he left the plane, placed him in an interrogation room, accused him of coming to the states without a plan to return home (he had a career, an apartment, a ROUND TRIP ticket, etc. still in Germany)and that they were turning him around on the next flight.
While it was very upsetting for us, he was much more broken-hearted for several others on his flight that were also sent back including an older woman from Poland who had not seen her daughter for over 25 years.
So many times these homeland security people are just awful, heartless, human beings.
