As an Avs fan, I’m good with this. Newhook wasn’t panning out and I’m sure a change of scenery will be better for him. And getting two draft picks is always good. I don’t think re-signing Newhook was part of the plan considering Toews, Byram and even Compher need to get re-signed.

As an avs fan I'm pretty happy with this deal. I don't think the avs will use all three of their 1st and 2nd round picks however. Newhook was a guy who wasn't gonna be able to thrive and get a bigger opportunity in our middle 6. So he gets a change of scenery and the avs can improve their prospect pool a little bit and maybe make a trade before Wednesday

I wouldn’t be surprised if the avs end up using the 31st pick and the 37th to move up in the draft too.

This is literally a Dach trade 2.0. Get an unproven, yet, promising young player that was drafted in 2019, for dispendable assets. I fully trust Hugues on this after what we saw from Kirby Dach last year.

Good pick up fpr Montreal. Makes me even more curious to see what they are going to do with the roster. They have 14 forwards and 9 defensemen rn.

As a Habs fan, Im really not sure about this one... I feel like it should have been only one of those picks. Lets hope he turns good like Kirby Dach last year!

Alex Newhook was draft right after Cole Caufield in 2019.

Habs fan here, I'm happy with it. Slight overpay but he's a player I've always really liked.

I don't know if Newhook is more than a 3C, and giving up 31 and 37 is a lot. Funny how Habs most untouchable pieces(Hutson 62nd, Beck 33rd, Mallioux 31st, Roy 150th) were drafted in the late 1st, early 2nd but are being called ''long shots''. I like Newhook cause he's a newfie and hope for the best in MTL. Colorado probably moves up or is preparing for a BIG move. Lindholm for both firsts, 37th, and Girard??

As an Avs fan, I really like this move. I agree that it didn't seem like he had a future in Colorado. At 31 and 37 I hope we get one or both of Molgaard or Molendyk.

Pretty good value for the Avs, my concern would be they didn't really get win-now pieces, makes since they might use these pieces as trade ammo. Not really sure what Montreal is trying to do here, doesn't make much sense to me from their perspective. I'd see him as like 3C for them at best?
