FIRE & SMOKE IN THE CABIN of Easyjet | Emergency Return to Geneva

Easyjet A320 performing flight from Geneva to Amsterdam was climbing when the pilots reported some smoke and fire in the cabin and cockpit and would need to return immediately.

Those are two words that get you IMMEDIATE priority handling: Mayday and Fire

You can absolutely hear the relief in all when the fire is reported extinguished.

I can imagine that the EZ pilot made the decision to divert to Lyon based on professional judgment. What I don't understand is why they insisted on asking for landing information at other airports while the ATC was busy dealing with the emergency situation.

It was gate 61, not 51, in the subtitles but it was hard to hear. The read back was correct but again not the subtitle., so a good example of confirmation bias. I wouldn’t have mentioned it otherwise
