Price of Persia: The Lost Crown | One-Minute Game Review

A lot of people were upset when it was announced that the new Prince of Persia game would be a 2D Metroidvania. But now that the game is out, and people have played it, it seems like there’s been a big change of tone.

The Lost Crown has surprised a lot of people with how good it is. Even many of those who don’t typically love Metroidvanias have really enjoyed it.

I definitely don’t think the focus of this game was to reinvent the wheel. There’s just no mechanics or ideas that makes this game stand out from others in this genre.

But although it doesn’t revolutionize, what the game does really well is take the best aspects of other games in the genre and distill them into a single game that represents, what I believe to be, one of the most player-friendly Metroidvanias ever.

This is a genre that has its foundation built upon the concept of exploring. But that can often come with a good amount of frustration, backtracking, and confusion.

The Lost Crown takes every step possible to reduce that headache for the player while retaining the elements that make a Metroidvania so much fun to play.

Reminds me a lot of Stryder, and as long as you view this prince of Persia game as its own separate entity from the original. Haven’t tried it but I definitely would

I play COD, CS2 those sort of games and have never turned away from them. But I’ve started to platinum the games I enjoy playing (campaign ones) I don’t think I would have purchased this if it wasn’t on the PS Plus page. But I’m hooked. It’s fun and different for me.

whats wrong with people that disregards 2D? each 2D and 3D have their own "formula" that only works on their own environtment. i mean, look at Pokemon, its not felt the same when gamefreak introduce Sword and Shield. its missing something. Like a cup Pizza. Its still tastes the same, but a pizza that is not flat felt wrong

I don’t get how someone can claim to not like metroidvanias, but go crazy for the next roguelike. Roguelikes are complete trash. Metroidvanias are fucking works of art

The game especially combat is so good but the excessive platforming is really annoying

They even put that haircut on a mfn persian, not only putting the one hairstyle that has united the entire Black diaspora against it but now they want to make it a two front war against SW-Asian folks

Didn’t like it. I thought the production value felt cheap. And a lot of stupid bombastic hairography moments, as if the devs played too much Persona while designing this game.
