We are at this step now ourselves. I have run the pros and cons and the only "pro's" I can see is to have a firm diagnosis. My husband is age 77 and already on Social Security so a future SSSI disability income is not involved. The "cons" include 1) we would have to pay for this DNA testing/genetic testing would be out of pocket for us. Without any treatment or any cure, I cannot see how a firm CMT diagnosis can really help us? This neuropathy has been progressing now for around 20+ years and just now did a neurologist even suggest that this neurological situation could be CMT based on his multiple symptoms; two hammertoes, high arches, neuropathy, muscle wasting, gait issues, frequent falling, nerve testing issues, fatigue/exhaustion etc.
