Statistical hypothesis testing is a huge part of statistics in A Level Maths, and you'll need to do it with the binomial distribution and also the normal distribution in year 2.

Hypothesis testing is used to determine whether there is significant evidence that a population has changed, and can be one tailed or two tailed.

Here's the general flow of a statistical hypothesis test:

Define the variable.

State the null hypothesis and alternate hypothesis.

State the distribution of the variable under the null hypothesis.

Test the probability of the critical value.

Accept or reject the alternate hypothesis based on your findings.
