I absolutely love Kerby’s work and for me this one doesn’t disappoint. That said, you must never feel that you “should” color in something that you truly don’t find appealing. I don’t like many of the floral books or fairy-themed ones because they can get “samey” and I now look for books with varying themes that I don’t already own. You do you, Claire; I find your honesty refreshing. Thanks for the flip through; I have my copy already but your take actually made me realize why it is that I DO like it! 😂

I absolutely love this book. My hubby and I are sci-fi movie lovers and this book represents the genre so well. Every page you turned I saw in color in my mind. I would love to put my spin on color to any page of this book. Plus I adore Kerby and his detail in his illustrations.

My first impression of this book was that it's for really brave and adventurous colorists who can tackle any coloring challenge. I knew the colored pages would look amazing, but I didn't feel adventurous enough. I think I'll purchase it after I have seen some of those pages colored beautifully. It's definitely a materpiece, but so far I'm more excited to see others color them than having to color them myself. At least right now. I definitely want to have it in my collection, though.

I share many of your thoughts, which were respectfully given, as you always do!
I think this is some of Kerby's best work in terms of the skill, imagination and detail that went into it. Holy cow, he did an amazing job! Sadly, the anatomy of the more monster-like creatures creep me out too much. There's just too many eyeballs and tentacles 😂 I often use gouache or acrylic to paint out elements in my pages that I dislike, but I'd have to do that with a majority of the pages here.Kerby is my favorite color book artist, but if I buy it it will just be to support his work. I'm crossing my fingers he''ll come back one day and gift us with a dragon themed book, because I love his dragons.

I am glad people were nice to you. You don't have to like everything. For me Johanna's worlds of wonder was a disappointment. It grew on me over time. But I don't like the big open backgrounds in the book.

I love this book. It is different from what I already have.

Hi Claire, your review was great and so honest, you actually sold this book for me because I was on the fence and I LOVE sci-fi, but your ideas for the pages in general actually had me envisioning the pages. I would love to be considered to win the book as I don’t have it yet! Your honesty in this video did not make it bias is any way, as you said, amazing artistry but just not your thing and that is okay!

If this is really the last book, I'm so thrilled he chose to do this theme. It's one of my favourite genres and I'd always wanted to see him do something like this. I don't have my copy yet, so I would like to enter the giveaway please! That said, it will be a huge challenge for me. Like you said, it's a massively detailed book and with my eyesight slowly deteriorating, I'm gonna have to find some way to deal with the detail without ruining the pages. That always terrifies me, lol, but I think this particular book will be more forgiving with any 'mistakes' made. I'll just pretend it was intentional! 🤣

Super trippy which is right off the bat not everyone’s taste. It might not fully be mine but props to Kerby for doing something different. SO MANY books are florals, florals, birds, gardens, florals. Same things over and over.

I love Kerby's books too, and have several of them. Although, I enjoy sci-fi, I just couldn't bring myself to buy it. I think, like you, I'm just a bit overwhelmed by it. Thank you for your honest review!!!

I love the Sci-Fi theme of this book! I'll probably buy it, especially because it's his last book, but it'll be quite an endeavor for me to finish one of these pages because of the detail. Thanks for the flip-through!

Please include me in the draw! Love this book, a little overawed by it with all the details. But love the fact you can use any colour palette. And again everyone’s taste is different so fair play to you for saying how you feel!
