I don't agree with a lot of things that Isha foundation does, but this honourable attempt to bring Thevaram to modern day masses is commendable. There is no other way to begin the worship of Shiva than the worship of 63 Nayanmars. Hope they continue this tradition of starting any mega events with this Thevaram song.

In this song, not only does one of the greatest saint poets of Lord Shiva, thiru Sundarar, say he is the servant of the Lord Shiva, the other great saint poets and the priests, but in this line : “Bakthar-ai panivarkum allarkum adiyen” - he says he is the servant of even the lowliest devotee. This is a lesson to me on one of the critical qualities of being a devotee - “humility”. We are truly blessed to hear this.
