You have to pay thousands of dollars for an attorney as well. Why don't we get rid of attorneys?

Sen. Harris, what about the growing staggering cost of a traffic ticket? That is a much more prevalent economic justice issue. I have not heard anyone in higher elected office speak to that. Those should have money limits. One ticket can mean whether a family can pay their rent / mortgage that month. It snowballs from there. It can be highway robbery, literally. And who is most likely to get stopped and ticketed? What are the stats on that?

Thank you for reaching across the isle and taking on common sense practical issues. In the current climate whereby political points are scored by sowing division, it is especially appreciated.
Thank you for continually vindicating my vote for your seat in the Senate.

We need a system in place that is fair for all not just women by the way you forgot to mention that even though you put up 10% of the bond you also are on the hook for the other 80% of the collateral if you have neither one of these you will not get out of jail so yeah I agree it's set up for the rich man and not for the poor

why would you use a 20k bail on a shoplifting if its the first offence she would be ror or maybe 200.00 bail plus

Im all for Harris but i work at a bail bonds and let me tell you the city paying your bail isn't always the best thing for two reasons.
The city is real strict. You cant screw up (if there is a complaint made or you get arrested for the tiniest thing) your bond will be revoked. When it is, your bond will be much higher than what it was initially and youll have a harder time getting out.
Also your lawyer will have to notify you of your court dates and they dont always do that. So when you miss your court date the judge will automatically issue a warrent.
Second and this one makes my blood boil THE CITY PARTIALLY PAYS FOR OR COMPLETELY PAYS FOR the bond of a person who committed a serious crime.
A man who raped multiple children and hes a first time offender gets a reduction or like there was this mother who tried killing her baby but failed whos bond was completely paid for.

Mrs.harris. You should have a conversation with a reputable Bondsman. Your theory and rhetoric is limited. You represent the voice of the people.

Hello, Senator Harris. I feel I like this bill on first hearing about the benefits of it from you but will seek more information about any downside. However, isn't there a way to please present this without ending on the "rich versus poor" angle because honestly that is going to lose some people? I am glad to see anyone reach across the isle too. I like some of what your co-sponsor on the bill has been saying for years on the topic. Your explanation is approachable other than the mentioned about the old staid class warfare of poor vs wealthy thing in my opinion and you are a super great communicator and I hope you will continue to offer improvements to the system and policy with bip support especially since you have such a notable career and insight on this topic. Thank you for your service.

If you can’t do the time, don’t do the crime.
Stealing is wrong. Life isn’t fair ms Harris.
Get over it.
