Bill Burr playing a character that does exactly what he does in his comedy. Asking questions while balancing right on the edge of what’s appropriate.

So true - Bill Berr’s character and acting was good, I liked Mayfeld. His arc was wholesome, it showed his humanity. His reaction to the officer was awesome.

It's ironic Bill made fun of stars wars and turned out to be the best character created in Disney starwars

Mayfield’s character single-handedly humanized a part of the Star Wars universe that hadn’t been successfully portrayed on film before. They tried here and there, but dropped the ball every time. It took Bill Burr to do it right.

my fav moments is when the empire comes to the rescue, to see the empire be the good guys even if it only a a brief moment was very novel and also tragic, seeing the stormtroopers saluting the two men who will very shorty get them all killed

Mayfield is hands-down one of the best characters ever put into Star Wars.

He's flawed, never meant to be held to some high ideal, and is just a guy trying to do his best - which is far more relatable than most characters in the SW franchise.

the moment they leave the vehicle and all the imperial support personnel salute and applaud them is an amazing moment that doesn't get enough play

Burr really nailed a PTSD episode. The rapid blinking, the rocking, he was literally back at burning kon (or however you spell it) when he was faced with his old commander. Ran chills up my spine.

I've literally been trying to convince people that this episode is one of the greatest stories in all of Star Wars since it came out.

"We all need to sleep at night."

I love that line.

Mayfield has become a permanent character in my SW rpg game that I run. I loved how Bill Burr portrayed him and he was probably one of the best written characters in a long time out of Lucasfilm

I really liked this character, this episode, and especially this character's story arc - it was simply lovely.

I really am not a big Bill Burr fan, but he absolutely crushed this role in both episodes.

The expression on His face tell's all, a man a soldier who witness a horror that visits his dreams, the loss of so many people in that place (Burnin Komm) including the ones he knew and served with, good acting, to see pain anger rage expressed on his face, and his resolve, I find The Believer one of the best in The Mandalorian, hope to se more of Migs Mayfeld.

It is one of the few episodes I actually remember. And considering how much more character and growth we see in Mayfield than in Mando in the entirity of S3, it would be more interesting to see a show about him. A journey of regret, self-discovery, redemption and setting a few things right - on a personal level.

This is a perfect example of what the series like the Mandalorian and Andor had time to do right where the movies would cut content like this due to time constraints.
Both the prequel and sequel trilogy movies tried to squeeze way too much into far too little time. They often sacrificed plot and character development for big action sequences. Action sequences are important, but they need to serve the narrative, not replace it.
And it’s this kind of stuff right here in this clip that makes you care about the characters.

Bill's wife was proud of him. He's a comedian, and not a screen actor. But he proved, right here, that he has the chops to do serious drama anytime he wants.

When his face drops, right before he shoots, when he made the decision without knowing he made the decision or what he was doing.
All portrayed very well in his face.
Great acting.

I just rewatched this episode a few days ago and that whole sequencece in the mess hall is still so so good. Mayfeld is so underrated. It’d be great to see him again. He made a lot of very valid points in that episode. I feel like s2 was all about Din’s world views being challwnged. And I also enjoy seeing how Grogu affects Din and those arounnd him. I hope we get more of both in their movie.
