scott bradlee here. since a lot of new ppl are here...

if i label a song as "Janis Joplin" style or "Frank Sinatra" style or whatever, it's meant as a reference point for the musical style of the remake. It does NOT mean that that is who the singer is trying to sound like. they're not impersonators. they have their own unique styles. the OG subscribers know this already.

also on rare occasions i just call the genre whatever i feel like just to mess with ppl.

That drummer looks like the happiest drummer on the planet. Smiles the whole time. Looks like he is having so much fun. Nice man

The power she puts in the word Maiden in the final chorus is so good. Gives me chills.

Am I the only one who appreciates how high quality the video looks?

Loved this. I think Jax did a fantastic job of putting those quavery, shaking, just-can't-reach-'em tones to use to make that curdling effect which really suited the theme, making her sound like as much of a dirtbag as the lyrics describe. Really gets that adolescent self-disdain feel down. And throw in Scott's belting out the backing piano chorus theme in a fashion almost reminiscent of Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, and well!

As a rule, all pmj videos are fantastic, but this one is just pure amazing. Hands down one of the best ever made. I especially love how they've played with the song to make it more joplinesque.

The look on the drummer's face is lovely. Clearly enjoying himself.

Nice to see.

One of the best covers of Teenage Dirtbag I have ever heard. She really sounds like Janis! 🤩

all the people complaining about her squeaking at the louder higher bits ether didn't read the title or have never heard Janis Joplin sing. because that is how she sounded. hence this being a Janis Joplin style cover.

Whoever sings this song is sure to sound brilliant, because it''s one of the best songs of all time. This is no exception. Sheer class
