Got it on launch day! I have a Beelink Ser6 Max with 32 GB of RAM, Ryzen 9 6900HX, with the integrated 680M graphics. The PC does a good job; nice graphics to my 71 year old eyes; good performance with no lagging as far as I can tell. I don't much care for needing to both eat and sleep. I died due to running out of stamina. I just did the tutorial portion. Needed to eat IRL.😅

Forgot to mention that I'm using a PS4 controller along with the mouse on occassion. Some thing, like the UI are faster & easier with the mouse. Only used the keyboard to enter my game name: Fred Flatfoot with some number after it (don't much care for that either).

No offline for a Minecraft game is a 100% no. It's the first game of a small studio, the servers can be stopped forever in few months and you will never be able to play this game again

Finally. I'm 70 years old and have been gaming since my Amiga computer in the '80s. I do NOT play 1st person games because I suck at them. I love crafting and building. However, my 2nd most played game (following Rimworld) is 7 Days to Die with 2600 hours. I don't really like 7DtD. I'm not into the whole zombie thing. I don't like the run-down broken environment. I don't like the whole horde attack thing. The character graphics really suck and, after 10+ yrs in EA, there's still no story at all. I do like the survival aspects, provided I can dial them down to grandma level, which I can do in 7DtD. And I love the voxel-based crafting and building that does not look like Leggo.

I always dreamed of a game where I could actually be a character in a beautiful world. Not a linear story RPG, but an RPG-like game with progression, good graphics, and Nightingale gives that. The gear-based progression is as good as any other system of character growth. The grind is the same as in any crafting/gathering game. And I actually get that "Gee, I wonder what that is over there!" feeling...often. Even though there's a lot of unfilled space, there are enough little encounters with animals and sites to keep the exploration great. I like the building mechanics; not as fiddly as the voxel-style. I don't see 3D irl, so this is much easier.

There are obviously issues. Some examples: The keyboard keys lose focus frequently (ESC stops working periodically...thank you for the Close button). It's 50/50 whether you load properly or get a tool bar of shovels (TAB, run cursor over them brings back the icons). The slight rest potion does nothing at all. How to close a window is very inconsistent. And I will very often lose connectivity when changing realms. So the game isn't what I would call "stable" yet. And if you remember the launch of any MMO back a few years, you'll recognize the feeling of frustration with servers that won't let you in. But the game works pretty well for me. Yes, I play on grandma difficulty, but the realm tailoring is what stands out. I can adjust difficulties in-game. The crafting system is quite fiddly -- OK by me -- and the interface is funky but I got used to it.

All in all, this is the game I've been waiting nearly 40 years for people and technology to make. Thank you Inflexion Games. I don't know how much time I've got left, but you've made the gaming ride worthwhile after all.

With all due respect, I am dissapointed that the game requires constant online access to play. The game genre is sandbox survival, and we are not looking for Fortnite kind of gameplay here. I strongly think that there should be an option to support offline playability. The lack of offline feature only takes away the fun...😢

I've already spent ~150 hours in this game and overall, I am pleased with the game. The positives outweigh the negatives, even at such an early stage in development. The game has a great foundation, it just needs more content such as bosses, boss room variety, boss mechanics, puzzles, vaults, biomes, QoL additions, optimization and of course, Nightingale city.

The biggest issues right now are (minor spoilers):

The first Automaton boss is a boss you will fight far too many times early on, which is so repetitive most players quit before they even experience the best parts of the game. On top that, it can spam its abilities non-stop as it never runs out of energy/stamina and its attacks are completely unavoidable, hitting you through pillars and walls. It's a terribly designed boss fight which is absolutely not a good way to introduce your game if you're going for player retention and positive reviews. Later on they pull the same mistake FromSoftware did with Dark Souls 2 by making you fight two of them at the same time. The difference is, in DS2 you could actually stagger and dodge the boss attacks so there was some skill involved.

When your energy reaches ~10% you can't do anything. Can't attack, can't sprint, can't jump, can't climb. This feels HORRIBLE in a (mostly) solo crafting game, especially to newer players. You should at least be able to attack a couple of times to get out of trouble. The only way to rest is to build something you may not have materials for and even if you do, you often can't rest there because the nearest safe building is hundreds of meters away so you have to return to your home realm, rest and run back. This will put you through ~5 minutes of loading screens. If you're in a Vault when it happens, you won't be able to re-enter and all the loot is gone. It's not a good mechanic at all. You should be able to rest anywhere simply by sitting down to recover, say, 25% of your energy. Potions should also restore energy.

When you break a leg you walk at ~10% movement speed and the only way in the game to heal a broken leg is with a Healing Salve, which requires a crafting station to make. If you don't have one, you might as well go AFK for 10 minutes until the debuff is gone. This debuff should be at most 2 minutes long and there should be several types of potions/medical items in the game to remove the debuff with. Health Potions don't. Why? Even in Escape from Tarkov which is a hardcore multiplayer FPS you can move around quickly with damaged legs, you just take damage while doing so. Nightingale is a much more casual experience - exceedingly punishing mechanics do not line up with the overall design philosophy.

There's a crafting exploit people are abusing at the moment that is making them one-shot end-game bosses which completely ruins the Vaulting experience, which otherwise is one of the best parts of the game. This issue needs to be addressed. How they'd fix this I'm not sure. Every single Vault is ruined by someone with an exploited gun so thousands of players have them already. Full reset?

The 3 end-game Vaults are all scaled to 100 Gear Score, with gear being available up to 286/271 Gear Score. There are no Vaults with 160 or 220 Gear Score difficulty in the game unless you host them yourself. If you invite players to your Realm to run higher difficulty Vaults, they can steal from and delete your entire base. They have full permission to everything. You can't kick them, lock chests, prevent them from building etc. Even while you are offline, they can enter your Realm and grief your base.

Great...its already on mediocre reviews on Steam thanks to forcing players to connect to server to play. E.g. "Not Recommended: Playing Solo, cant play because of Network Error. Great..." and "I'm playing alone yet it feels like I'm playing on very high ping. I can't recommend this game to anyone that isn't in the same country as the servers." .... I was so close to buying it, I'm glad they didn't allow pre-orders!

This game has the potential to be as big as No Man's Sky!
But Hello Games doesn't have DLC. They provide all updates for free.
Also they have the option of playing online with others or offline solo.
I would have asked this on Discord or Steam, but questions are blocked there.

The trailer gave me the vibes of an intense adventure with exploration and combat but there was none of that feeling in the actual game....kinda like watching paint dry and sorting needles in the haystack for a few hrs every day, the same damn paint n needles... hope they will somehow manage to make the realms feel more handcrafted and unique.

I did hear from my friend about the early builds, I do see this one and there is something extremely satisfyingly about the snappinness of things in what I see. It is hard to put the finger on it but it is clear to me that this trailer did snap. I really do hope that the game will get there. However as my friend suggested as I would also suggest - Wait until this or any other game is fully released. You are not supposed to pay for the testing phase and most certainly you are not supposed to be a tester.

Other than the GUI and the fonts in the inventory slots, the colours on the gear and the hp, mana, hotbar, - it looks good. The ones mentioned feel really cheap and off putting.
