The Tree that Owns Itself - Athens, GA

This tree is located in Athens, Georgia - it is said that it owns itself aka the son of the tree that owns itself and the land 8 feet surrounding its trunk. It is tucked away off of a residential street, its base stretching into part of the roadway. Technically the original tree died but a tree from one of its acorns was planted in its place - hence son of the tree that owns itself.
