Arcade quest is straight taken from VF4Evo single player it took like 20 yrs for another game to realize how good and useful this mode is lmao

Everything you described at the end about the game telling you how to beat specific things or how to tech throws is build into the replay system of the game. Every time you get hit the replays tell you exactly why you got hit

I had some experience with Motion Capture for video games and gotta admit even though Namco has always created a seriously fluid and accurate movement animations and overall choreography for Tekkens in the past, (I think they were using MoCap before it was industry standard) They outdid themselves this time. Ps. You almost saw me as Leon in these new Resident Evil games :)

Super ghost battle has been very helpful with finding flaws in my game play with characters I use, what I didn't know for a bit, was that the AI gets data from your online matches, not from offline, updating every 3 matches, after you do that for an hour or so, the AI can actually make a good copy of you, think of an infinitely more intelligent DVR

These ghosts feels like bot AI because they are. These are not real ghosts, there is a list of CPU ghosts that you can fight against to get goodies.

Go to the replays section. They have suggested punishes, throw techs, and combo challenges

Its like Virtua Fighter 4's quest mode mixed with DOA's attempt at teaching you during its story. Bout goddamn time.

@12:08 TBF, that's the point of the Main Techniques section of the move list. It's still a lot, but it's meant to show you what your gameplan should be like.

Interestingly enough, the complaint about more specific information when you lose (throw breaks, punishes etc etc) is actually in the game's replay system. You can rewatch any of your ranked matches and say if you get thrown, the replay freezes and gives you the throw break. Or freezes on moves you blocked and could have punished, but didn't, and recommends a particular punish based on the amount of -frames the opponent has. Recommended combos if you biff a big launch and freeze up. It even lets you take control of the replay itself and play as if the match was still going, letting you practice when they recommend in the context it's been recommended! Absolutely amazing system, and well worth looking into if you're going online quite a bit.

I'm glad you're enjoying Tekken! I hope to see more from you, and I'd love to help you train/fight against you, sometime!

The mode is cool and all, I just wish that the game told me it even fucking existed and was where the tutorial was. It's baffling how much effort they put into it and then just gave up on communicating that this is where the new players should go.

what i love alot the tutorials / learning process in t8 is that they have arcade quest for beginners and the replay features for intermediates
having the game tell you that you fell for a knowledge check AND how to beat it is brilliant and i need that in more games

Ive been playing the series for over a decade since T6BR and I still get knowledge checked pretty often. It was one of the reasons I switched to 2D fighters like Strive and Sf6 during T7. At least T8 is fresh and fun for now but Im not looking forward to studying all the new knowledge checks again.

When I got the 70 damage combo mission I immediately went to Practice Mode Combo Trials for my character and found one. They even tell you the damage it'll do on the menu! Then the only problem is executing it, but I've even hit it online after all that practice.

Btw World Tour does that aswell, World Tour teaches how to play the game, and it does it seamlessly, mainly how to deal with the character archetypes you will find in Street Fighter, it's really subtle because you're so entertained by world tour that you'll probably miss it

The reason why I find Tekken hard at first is because the command input I come from BBCF then just compare both of the command input and you'll notice which the hard one

Pfft!
I'm starting with Tekken at Tekken 8 at 57 years old...I also suck at video games.
Gonna be a hard road! I'm looking forward to it.

The best thing about TEKKEN is its difficulty...i stopped playing Tekken for about 14 years then started on TEKKEN 7...boy was it difficult...i hated it but grinded ...now i love it from frame data to doing electrics to wavu mixups to frame traps..it was all soo overwhelming...but now i really love it ... The best game ive played in my life 🎉🎉🎉

My biggest problem with Arcade Quest is that the game isn't learning how you're playing DURING the game, only in a random side area you have to actively participate in. If they can somehow pull it off now only will you be able to fight ghosts of your friends, you can play them like they did when they were at a certain rank to see how they've improved
