Thank you for this. I had a patient who was very thin and I was giving them a Heparin subq. I was pinching the skin and was worried about poking myself through the skin. I was trying to find out if I needed to keep pinching while administering the drug or once I am inserted I can release my hand that is pinching and with the other hand slowly admin the med. Great video thank you.

do you let go of the adipose once the dose is completely given or at the same time you press down the syringe?

A MA gave a intramuscular injection as a subcutaneous. What is the effect to that ?

Everything is wrong 🤔, why you squeeze the adipose after u gave the medication ? this could cause the amount of medication to be less, like in insulin or heparin .
Also, the angle should be 90 degree in this case, because of the skin fold is large .

Who taught you that subcus are given in the upper upper arm? [edit: That is where you prepped, but you gave the shot further away from the deltoid.] This is not adipose tissue. This is deltoid muscle. You are risking nerve injury and could hit a vein. Subcu injections are given over the triceps muscle, which doesn't go that high - lower to mid-upper arm is the proper site [edit: where you gave the shot]. I taught paramedics for decades and precepted RNs most recently. Learn your anatomy.
