Though we won and I'm really happy about it, I still somewhat feel pretty bad for the South African team. It has so many amazing talents and multiple Cricket legends like Ab de Villiers or Jacques Kallis. They even have probably upcoming legendary players like Quinton de Kock. Markram is the only captain from South Africa to have reached the finals after 30 years+ worth of bad luck. This is was their first ever finals as they always had been knocked out as soon as they reached the Semis.


It was unfortunate that it had to be them to be our opponent in the finals, they almost had the upper hand pretty much throughout the game but somehow the last 5-6 overs (sets) went in our way and they did a few mistake, followed by a brilliant catch from Surya.

I am from South Mumbai, and just a few days ago, I was cheering on Team India from a sports bar with my friends during the intense India vs. South Africa final. We were all praying for India to win and bring that trophy home. I guess even God was in the mood to celebrate because he gave us more than we could have ever wished for – the trophy, the entire Indian team, and an unforgettable victory parade right here in our city! 🙂
