I briefly dated a guy who had a daughter and she hated me. I kept telling him it wouldn’t work if his daughter didn’t like me, and he kept insisting she’d “get used to it”. I finally broke up with him because I wasn’t willing to basically torment that kid by being around. He never understood why I wouldn’t just ignore how unhappy she was that I was around. It was so weird that I was more willing to advocate for his kid than he was.
