LGBTQI+ health and advocacy symposium: Promoting Inclusive LGBTQI+ healthcare

The 2024 LGBTQI+ Health and Advocacy Symposium, hosted by the Desmond Tutu Health Foundation (DTHF) and UCT’s Faculty of Health Sciences, brought together civil society, academia, government officials, and NGOs to champion inclusive healthcare for LGBTQI+ individuals, on 1-2 November 2024.
Lynn Bust, Project Manager for the LGBT+ division at DTHF, emphasised the need to transform research into tangible actions that improve healthcare access and inclusivity for LGBTQI+ communities.
Spanning two days, the symposium focused on Queering health systems and gender-affirming health care. The initiative also highlighted the joint commitment of DTHF, UCT, and LGBTQI+ leading advocacy organisations including, Inclusive & Affirming Ministries, Gender DynamiX, and the Triangle Project.
