I think I'll just keep sucking at F1 games, thanks

Want to get fast at the f1game?
Get rid of the brake pedal they only SLOWS you down

admitting mistakes!? NO! Also 1 important one in my own experience. Good seating and a steering is that is properly stuck!

Spain is such a good track to practice these techniques and limits on high speed corners. I used to hate racing it with zero assists, but running a few laps right after watching this gave me a few tenths on my old pace right away, especially with the trail braking breakdown. Thanks man

This would make a fantastic series, actually. Would love to see in-depth videos on loadouts, tire management, and even manual gears (won't lie, I can't do manual gears to save my life, even with a Fanatec wheel).

I use racing line as a rough estimate of braking zones, anti lock brakes, medium TC, and auto gears. Mostly because I'm on controller and don't actually want to learn every corner of every track. I never follow the racing line exactly, but it's more of a guide for me.

Also I continue to use controller because I play on Xbox, and I'm too broke to set up a sim rig, even for my xbox

Turning this video into a series would be a great idea. Show us how loadouts work, tyre wear and more. This potential series would be great for new players.

If you're driving with only one tire on the track, increase your differential locker to 85% under throttle. This helps keep the car stable when its tires have unequal grip.

Another major factor I found which limited my pace initially was having a bad setup. If you can fine tune your setup to suit your driving style, you can take up to a second off each lap. It’s so important to have the right setup in place, especially if you’re looking to get faster.

As someone who has been struggling to get into sim racing… this video was extremely helpful… I was doing EVERYTHING wrong according to your video so can’t wait to try again

Controller & auto people, you can still trail brake and short shift exiting corners. I’ve found this has really improved my lap times. It’s difficult to engine brake, but you can absolutely utilize the gears on controller to reduce wheel spin or get out of high gear

Thank you for the tips. What I struggle the most in is driving in wet conditions. Would really like a video on that. When I normally can compete with the AI at 80-90, I will be seconds of as soon as it's wet conditions.
Also a video on how to create a setup that fits your own driving style would be great. Questions like: What to change when you keep losing the car in fast corners; What changes can/should be made between dry/wet and quali / race setups. How do you judge, if you should just add more wing if you lack grip, or if you should change the suspension to get more traction in corners.

You didn’t have to call me out like that

The one single thing that has helped me most in F1 2021 is changing the camera settings. Everyone has different preferences, but I use TV Pod with a wide FOV, positioned up quite high, and angled downwards. That’s what gives me the best sense of where the car is on track, but just experiment and see what works for you. Other than that, practice following AI cars and gradually increase the difficulty, that’s the best way I’ve found to learn new circuits. Finally, it’s actually not as hard as it seems to turn off the driving assists and still drive well. Once upon a time I thought I would never drive without traction control, but now that I’m used to it, it’s honestly pretty easy. ABS has a much steeper learning curve, so I’ll admit I still use that one.

I use an old controller that cannot give gas smoothly, it's 100% trothle or 0%. So i have to use assists or else i die.

A video on setups would be awesome. My intuition sucks when it comes to how I set up the car and hearing what actual in game effects happen due to stiff suspension or soft roll bars would help so much

Slow in, fast out has helped me so much this year. Of course there are some braking zones that can be cheated a little but, for the most part, fixing my braking has benefitted me so much.

Great Vid Ben, very honest feedback. Using up the full width of the track is an interesting one. But as you say if you can get away with it, why not. Yes you should do many more series like this. Cheers.
