As a black woman in America I am surprised that anyone thinks that FEMA helps anyone. When Katrina happened I was living in Fort Worth, Texas. All those families came to Dallas, Arlington, fort worth. I was working with JPS Hospital. It's a county hospital with clinics, pharmacies all over Tarrant county. I worked in the Central department (pharmacy that services the counties) and all of the families talked about FEMA. Fast forward to Port Arthur Texas....the FEMA camp was tents and bob wire fence. My aunt was displaced even with her insurance that covered the house. FEMA took over 5 years to get her the assistance that she was owed. By then the rest of our families in different states just did FEMA job. The issue is that the government only sees us as numbers and not real people. This is what our tax dollars do for us. If y'all think the money that y'all put in is for you it's not. Our government is the biggest marketing scam ever. Everyone just lets them gaslight us. Smh
