I was close to buying the Graham Slee Solo Ultra-Linear Diamond Edition. Luckily I caught this video in the right time. My £670 is saved!
Thanks, Tweaker Man!

Great video. I made cables using you interconnect video and they are great. As I have a Slee reflex M I’ll be dusting off my soldering iron and watching for your choice of electronics. Thanks for this

Well done for opening this up. Shocking to see about 20 quid worth of parts in there, plus basic chassis, and comes stock with cheap wallwart PSU.
Might even be worth selling and putting together an RJM Emerald phono preamp -- highly recommended.

Thanks for the video. I'd expect the op-amps used to be bipolar. Whatever you replace them with, make sure they are also bipolar to keep noise low. I can recommend Sparkos op-amps. Also, you might want to replace the regulator with a discrete that offers lower noise and better supply rejection. Again, Sparkos parts are very good, but there are others. Good luck!

I fit some 'Murndorf' caps in my Tag Mclaren DAC the other day from hificollective, a significant improvement on the originals.

Hi Ian I also think with most modern hifi, you do tend to be buying a lot of empty space . Back in the 70s and 80s if you took the cover off any bit of kit it would be ram packed with components often in several layers . Of course the argument is it’s all about isolation to prevent interference, but it still makes you think if they put it in a smaller box would we be a bit disappointed . Just thinking out loud as usual 😂 . Best wishes 😀👍👍👍

There is one thing you are over looking here to improve that basic designed pre-amp and that is the quality of the metal film resistors fitted to it. They are cheap 2 pence cheap metal resistors. Replace them all with some Audio grade Takman metal resistors or PRP from Hifi Collective. You will be surprised with the results. HC stock most values but a lot of their Takmans are out of stock. Try this upgrade and you won't be disappointed, trust me. Changing the resistors will lower the noise floor and offer up greater detail and transparency.

Why are you looking to replace parts? You weren't satisfied with its stock sound quality, were you?

Blimey, there’s not much inside one of them! 😮. You would have thought for £550 they would have fit decent caps originally, even if not audio grade. These look like cheap Chinese caps. I would expect a big improvement.
